Careers is everything young people need to know, understand and be able to do in order to:
Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance programmes make a major contribution in preparing young people for opportunities, responsibilities and experience of life. They help young people make decisions and manage transitions as learners and workers. It is vital that all 11-18 year olds have the knowledge and skills they need to make informed choices. At Broadway Academy we aim that all our students have aspirations about their future choices and leave fully equipped with experiences, skills and qualifications to be successful in modern Britain.
We at Broadway Academy strive at all times to conform to the current “best practices” in Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance laid down by the government. CEIAG is seen as an integral part of the curriculum, which is available to every pupil and follows the 8 principles set out by the Gatsby Benchmarks as recommended by the DfE’S Careers Strategy (2017).

In addition to this, any advice or guidance given to pupils is personalised and appropriate. We also believe that working with outside agencies is an invaluable part of CEIAG curriculum on offer.
Careers Mission Statement
At Broadway Academy, our careers mission is to inspire every student to cultivate high aspiration and confidence in their future opportunities. We provide a dynamic and inclusive careers programme that equips learners with the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to make informed, purposeful decisions at every stage of their educational and professional journey.

Meet the Team
Careers advice is also provided by Miss Williams (SEND careers advisor) with senior staff link Mr Taylor.
For inquiries and assistance, please reach out to us via e-mail (Mr Taylor at staht@broadway-academy.co.uk). You can also find the Careers Office in the Purple Corridor. Our dedicated team includes pastoral staff, subject staff, careers advisors, specialist SEND careers support, Assistant Headteacher staff link and a careers link governor. All students in Year 9, 11 and 13 will receive personalised careers advice and one to one guidance delivered by our team of highly qualified advisors from BCS
Careers Curriculum Overview
We offer a structured programme from Year 7 to Year 13 which includes input during the PDP lessons (STEPS booklets), assemblies, workshops, educational visits and careers interviews.

Gap Year

Develop your experience and workplace skills with a Year in Industry, a 9 – 12 month paid placement in a STEM related industry for 18 – 21 year olds in England. Working with Providers
As part of Broadway Academy’s commitment to informing our pupils of the full range of learning and training routes on offer to them, we are happy to consider requests from training, vocational education and apprenticeship providers to speak to students and will also approach these partners ourselves when planning organising key Careers events throughout the school year.
In the first instance, providers wishing to speak with students should consult with us about their input at our main events throughout the school year.
These events provide ample opportunities to speak to students and parents both individually and in groups to offer information on vocational, technical and apprenticeship routes. These are usually held in the school hall and timings, facilities and parking and registration details are emailed to exhibitors in good time before the event.

- The careers team are available at every parents evening and options evening.
- The careers team are available on results day.
- We have also set up a parent login for Unifrog as if you were a student yourself, allowing you to truly support your child.

Guidance for governors
Not sure what you want to do?
We know it can feel overwhelming not knowing what you want to do after school, and that’s okay. You’re not alone – a lot of students are still figuring it out. The important thing is to keep an open mind and explore your interests and strengths. Start by thinking about what subjects you enjoy or any hobbies you like. Are there any classes where time seems to fly by, or things you’re naturally good at?
We can look into different pathways, whether that’s college courses, apprenticeships, or jobs that match your skills and interests. Remember, your first choice doesn’t have to be forever – most people change careers several times throughout their life.
