As Broadway staff will run our kitchen, we can focus on fresh balanced meals that fuel learning, energy, and well-being—because we know what our students love and need.

Our (Healthy) Choice

With no outside company involved, it means no more “one-size-fits-all” menus! Students can help shape our meal choices with seasonal themes, taste tests, and fun food days.

As Broadway Academy will be running the kitchen we can keep meal prices fair and make sure every penny goes back into supporting students, not external profit. Health food at the right price.

We Will Be Serving Food Grown By Our Students On Our Farm.

Starting September 2025, we’re bringing our catering in-house – which means fresher food, more student choice, and a school lunch that actually works for everyone. But that’s not all…

We’re upgrading to brand-new tills with facial recognition – so no more long waits or till problems.

Our Fresh fruit and veggies, grown by our amazing students at the Broadway Academy Farm, will be served throughout the year as they come into season. And YES—the photo above really is our farm-grown goodness, making its way straight into the Broadway kitchen.

Break Time 

Perfect for keeping hungry teens going until lunchtime, our light snacks hit the spot and keep students satisfied.

Lunch

All our students can enjoy a great value meal deal at lunchtime—whether they’re entitled to Free School Meals or not. Each deal includes the dish of the day, a dessert, and a refreshing squash. All our meals are freshly prepared in-house by our dedicated team, offering a homemade feel and a hot, hearty meal to fuel the rest of the day.

Food Choice

Our menus are designed to offer choice, take into consideration vegetarian, cultural and religious dietary requirements and meet the requirements of the Government’s food-based and nutrient-based standards for school lunches.

 

Fresh Food Locally Sourced 

We’re passionate about serving fresh, high-quality food that’s cooked right here in our kitchen. By sourcing ingredients locally wherever possible and focusing on seasonal produce at its freshest, we make sure only the very best goes into every meal we serve.

Unsure About Free School Meals?

If you are a parent or carer, and receive any of the benefits below, then your child is eligible for Free School Meals.

  • Income Support
  • Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross household income of no more than £16,190)
  • The Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit
  • Income Related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Working Tax Credit run on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit

What to do next?

If your application for Free School Meals is successful, Broadway Academy will also receive extra funding from the Government to use in support of teaching and learning (Pupil Premium).

How Do We Pay?

Payments can be made through Arbor Pay, available on your Parent App. Here, you can view your child’s current balance and see a breakdown of their spending. Simply log in via the app – all parents should have received a parent portal username (Year 7s will receive these in September). If you’re lost or not received this please contact the school.  If you have your username but are unsure how to access the Parent App, help guides and shortcuts are shown below.

A Different Menu

We’re always listening to students and staff to help fine-tune our menus. Got an idea? We’d love to hear it! Whether it’s a new dish or a themed menu day, we’re keen to create special events that celebrate different styles and cultures of food.

Filled Jacket Potatoes, Assorted Snacks, Various Filled Sandwiches, Rolls & Wraps. Hot Sweet of the Day or Fresh Fruit Salad, Hot and Cold Drinks
