When I left Broadway School, back in the Summer of ’79, full of potential, expectations and a desire to see and grab every opportunity to make my mark in the world, I never expected to be back at Broadway in 2017. I left as Head Girl and now return as a Governor, who would have thought it!
School and study was a safe place for me as I grew up. I could explore and find out who I was and shape who I could be… From school reports, it seems that I liked being helpful, was not afraid to take the lead, put my all in whatever I was doing and whilst I was good but ‘flaky’ in constructing essays, I was very analytic and mature in my thoughts. Over some 35 years later, I have travelled the world several times, have had a few jobs culminating in my working in the ‘not for profit’ sector serving people and charity organisations, received an MBE in 2010 and importantly, still a person of faith. As a Governor, I will work hard with fellow governors, the staff and pupils to keep Broadway a safe place in which students can grow and flourish; to acquire skills that will enable pupils to make their marks later in life, to respect ourselves, each other and the communities in which we live; and not be afraid to ask questions.
I look forward to joining the Board and over time getting involved in the life of Broadway Academy.
