Broadway students learn more than curriculum knowledge at school. Take a look at some of the pictures from our most recent sailing trip, where a group of year 10 boys developed core school values and went beyond their limits to tackle the Atlantic.
This was the most recent in a number of groups that have taken on similar sailing challenges. They learnt how to perform all the key roles on board such as steering, navigating, tacking and hoisting the sails. They also cooked and cleaned for 18 people several times whilst on board. Broadway joined Trinity School from Doncaster, a non-selective and Christian ethos school. Religion and values were ever-present throughout the trip, with both groups learning a great deal about their peers beliefs and similarities.
Parents and pupils can look forward to a short documentary video coming out soon and see what life on board a sailing boat is like. The ‘Alba Explorer’, which the boys travelled on for five days has twice been around the globe and measures a huge 72 ft!
