Mr. R Zafar, Assistant Headteacher, is part of the “Deep Academics” Team and Director of Modern Foreign Languages.

Mr Zafar arrived at Broadway Academy after many years of international and national teaching experiences and expertise.
Multinational and multilingual, Mr Zafar grew up in Paris (France) where after his French baccalaureate obtained two master degrees in “International Studies” at the University of Paris which were completed alongside work experience in the French Consulate in Los Angeles (USA).
After graduating from the University of Birmingham with his third master degree, Mr Zafar started his teaching career in the North Birmingham area in order to help the most deprived pupils to promote his passion of international languages. In one of his previous school, Mr Zafar was a successful Head of Modern Foreign Languages where he achieved incredible results in less than 3 years from 47% to 81% in GCSE pass grades in French.
Always willing to promote Teaching & Learning, Mr Zafar is involved in many non-profitable teaching organisations. Currently he is the French subject mentor at Titan mentoring and developing French PGCE students from Birmingham City University. He is also the MFL Consultant at the BEP (Birmingham Education Partnerships) advising local schools on how to improve pedagogy in MFL.
Mr Zafar is a proud European and is passionate about International and digital educational inclusion. He has presented “The Importance of Languages in the workplace” at the University of Birmingham (Barber Institute) as well as contributing to online articles.
Finally, he is very proud that he contributed to the “Erasmus” project of “School 4 inclusion” where over 15 schools in Europe aimed to propose the elaboration of an effective strategies to develop an inclusive school environment for migrant children.
Mr Zafar strongly believe that the UK education system gives all students the chance to succeed, regardless of their age, sex, gender or ethnicity and languages have contributed to this vision of life.
