Outdoor Education and Student Leadership
Broadway Academy are delighted to have secured a 5 year lease from Top Barn Trust for a campsite and lake at Island Pool (pictured) to be used to develop Outdoor Education at the Academy. This was signed in June 2020.
One of the many benefits of this was that we were able to use the site to continue with our outdoor education programme, as well as making it available for curriculum use, even throughout the pandemic.
We are continuing to develop the infrastructure and add to our already extensive outdoor education programme of hill walking and Duke of Edinburgh awards. Amongst the highlights are raft building, kayaking, hill walking, Forest School and Bush Craft and we are looking to develop this still further to include fishing, wild swimming and canoeing on the River Severn!
It will also be used as part of our curriculum offering in a variety of subjects as curriculum areas are planning to make it part of their programmes of study to pupils at key stages 3, 4 and 5.
