Half Term for Years 10 – 13

Half Term for Years 10 – 13

9th October 2026

Upper School (Years 10-13)

Dear Parent/Carer

I’m pleased to report that the Upper School has made an excellent start to the academic year.
The Year 10 leadership team have been focussing on getting the “basics” right, so their cohort is better
equipped and ready to learn at GCSE level. I’m confident that their dedication and drive will really pay off
in the end of year 10 exams.

Year 11 after school interventions are well underway, the Saturday targeted intervention programme
will start next half term, and plans are being finalised for the study residentials in November/December.
The Year 11 mocks begin soon so it’s important that your son/daughter uses the half term break to
prepare.

Year 12 have been focussed on “bedding in” the independent study skills and personal organisation
required to achieve at Key Stage 5. The “Examined Life” critical thinking course has started for the whole
cohort, which is provoking thought and debate between the students. They’re also receiving
information, help and advice regarding future careers, University and Apprenticeships.

The Sixth Form team are pushing hard with Year 13 to build on last year’s best ever exam results. Our
new Academic Mentor is working on a one-to-one basis with those most needing additional support.
Excellent lesson attendance and effective use of study time will be key for them this year.

In summary, I’m delighted with the positive start and hopeful that we can build on these foundations to
achieve even more this Summer.

Students will break up for the October half term on Friday 23rd October 2026 and return to school on
Monday 2nd November 2026.

May I take this opportunity to wish and your family a peaceful October half term break.

Yours faithfully

Mr G M Stewart
Head Of Upper School
