The year 8 cricket team faced Holte School this Tuesday, knowing that the winner would come away with the Birmingham League title. Holte started brightly, taking the two openers within the first three overs. Ibrahim was then ran out to put Broadway in a tough position.
However, two of the Schools best footballers stepped in and formed a partnership that would turn the game. Aqeel hit a thundering 54 runs, as he also became the highest run-scorer at the school this year. Kabba kept his wicket at the other end and battled through some overs to provide stability. Broadway were eventually bowled out for 99.
Holte’s reply never looked strong, as Aqeel and Isa removed both openers inside two overs. Aqeel took another two wickets, helped by Ibrahim (2) and Arbaz (1), as they bowled Holte out for 64.
This adds to year 8’s cup and league win in football, second place in the Birmingham Athletics Championships, county cup and league titles for Broadway Raiders and a top four finish for Kihone in the British High Jump Final.
