19th March 2018
Dear Parent / Guardian,
With the summer examinations fast approaching, the Science Directorate have implemented an exam-based homework schedule starting Tuesday 20 March 2018, leading up to the exams which start in May 2018. All students were issued with a CGP Science Revision Guide and a CGP Science Workbook in December 2017. The ‘Workbook’ is a huge collection of exam style questions covering all the content studied throughout Year 10 and Year 11. In preparation for the summer examinations, students should be increasing the frequency of independent study/revision and in order for them to do so in a directed fashion, we would like your support.
Each week, we are expecting students to complete two chapters of exam style questions, which equates to approximately four pages of the workbook per day. I would advise that they work in a quiet area and time themselves to a ‘minute per mark’. Once completed, we are expecting students to bring the Workbook in to school to demonstrate the completion of the homework to their Science teacher. Their Science teacher will then issue them with the relevant section of the mark scheme and the homework for the following week will be to mark the questions in addition to completing the next section. This exposure to the mark scheme acts as a revision process and will give students a better understanding of what is required of them when sitting their final exams. Failure to complete the homework may result in being issued with an after-school detention at which the student will be required to complete the work.
I am very confident that if students adhere to the homework schedule, it will have a significant impact on improving their attainment, potentially by a grade within the next 8 weeks. Please find attached to this letter the CGP Exam Question Homework Schedule; your support in supporting our children will be very much appreciated.
