It is always good to see successful returning students to Broadway Academy and last week Mohammed Shahed visited us to speak about his first term at university and thank staff for the support he received while at Broadway. Shahed completed his GCSEs at Broadway and with his outstanding results secured a place at a grammar school 6th form, however after one half term he realised that he would be happier and more successful if he returned to Broadway.
Shahed was proved correct, as with the skilled teachers that had taught him at GCSE and the support network that we have at Broadway he achieved A level grades of A*, A, A. Shahed was interviewed and just missed out on a place at Cambridge University however secured a place to study Law at Warwick University and is thriving there.
At Broadway we identify the most able from the age of 11 and have a programme which is designed to challenge them from the moment they arrive in year 7.
Our ambition is to have 10 students each year going to Oxbridge. Whilst Shahed is a very driven and impressive young man he does attribute much of his success to the teaching and support given at Broadway Academy. At Broadway we provide a high quality curriculum and opportunities for young people to develop their all-round skills so that they can become confident, well-rounded members of British society. Shahed is a perfect example of this and there are many more like him who succeed at Broadway and personify the Academy motto of ‘Our Children, Our Community, believe it can be done!’
