A warm welcome was extended to over 100 parents and students from years 7,8 and 9 who attended the Oxbridge Pathway Presentation Evening on Thursday 13th December 2018. The aim of the evening was to encourage and challenge, students and their parents, to be aspirational. We wanted them to believe that with the right support, from Broadway Academy, they will have the ability and confidence to gain a place at Cambridge or Oxford.
Speakers from Oxford and Cambridge University explained the entry process. They spoke from personal experience about being part of an internationally recognised educational establishment which has extensive research opportunities and networks. The challenge was given to our students, to develop their wider academic learning and make the most of the vast range of extra – curricular and enrichment activities available to Broadway students. including the arts, sports and outdoor education.
A Broadway governor who attended Cambridge, Guy Hordern MBE, Mr McLaren a Physics teacher and Oxbridge coach and subject leaders in Maths, English and Science gave inspirational presentations. You can find these via the following link:
It is our aim, in the next five years, to have 10 students per year, gain places at Oxbridge.
