Year 8 student Kihone leapt to his second successive county title, wining the West Midlands competition with a jump of 1.65. Competing for North Birmingham, he was able to beat challengers from Solihull, Walsall, Coventry, South Birmingham and Dudley. This is despite being a year under age, beating the best year eight and year nine students in the county. He will now represent our county at the Mason Trophy next Saturday and hopefully at the English Schools in July.
Broadway Raiders also travelled to Worcester this weekend, to take place in the annual Kempsey FC tournament. They cruised through the group stages, winning 3-1, 9-2 and 4-0. Many of the players grew tired as the tournament progressed, as some players were resting for the holy month. Broadway eventually lost a close final 2-0, against a team they beat 3-1 in the group stages, with only one substitute and fatigue setting in. A special thanks to Mrs James. Our drama specialist and head of year 7 shown she has many talents, stepping in for Mr Robbins and leading the team to a superb result in a high-profile tournament.
