Letter to parents

Dear Parent/Guardian

The academy will close to all the students for the Christmas holidays on Friday 19th December 2014 at 12.20pm. Students will return to the academy on Tuesday 6th January 2015 at 8.30am.

Academic Achievement

As this year draws to a close it makes one reflect on all that has happened this year; Broadway Academy has gone from strength to strength. We have an excellent staff team and our recent ‘value added score’ puts us in the top three-five per cent of academy’s in the country for student progress. I would like to congratulate students, staff, parents, indeed the whole academy community for this wonderful achievement.

Pride in Broadway Academy

The wonderful results, outstanding discipline and behaviour and the huge increase in first choice places for students applying to Broadway, mean we are now one of the most popular academies in the city.  We are all very proud to be part of the wonderful learning community at Broadway and I am sure you are as proud of our achievements as I am.

‘Broadway Basic 10’

Broadway is constantly outward facing and looking to improve on all aspects of academy life to ensure students are happy, safe and continue to have world class opportunities.  Students, staff, governors and parents have all had an input in creating 10 statements that the academy will use to maintain and regulate outstanding behaviour, conduct and the values/ethos of the academy.  I would be grateful if you would continue to share these statements with your child throughout their time at Broadway Academy.  I have also included the school uniform dress code.  Please ensure your child follows the academy dress code as standards of appearance are essential in maintaining an outstanding outlook and impression within the Broadway community.

Community and Extra-Curricular

Whilst academic success is very important, I am also delighted with the progress we have made in extra-curricular provision. In conjunction with our community provision (which is world class) we are offering more sports, arts and music as well as many other activities throughout the year. Our students are getting a wonderful holistic education and many go on to study at top universities.

Thank you to all parents, governors, students and staff for your continued support throughout this year on our journey towards making Broadway the best academy in Birmingham. I wish you a safe and happy Christmas holiday.

Yours faithfully

Mr R Skelton
