Broadway Academy starts 2018 with roaring success in sport!

Happy New Year!

There is always a strong correlation between sporting and academic success – Broadway Academy is testimony to this; it performs well academically (we expect to be in the top 20% of schools nationally for progress this year) and excels in the sports and the arts. The Christmas play, Peter Pan was the best yet.

Mr Smith Chair of Finance and former Naval Officer said:

“Peter Pan” was first class and Nadene must be congratulated for the exceptional work that she does to produce such wonderful performances time and time again. A real star!

Nadene has this amazing ability to bring ex pupils and staff …together to form a brilliant production team; lights, music, the set and all the details that make the production so good. But the stars are our children who learn their lines, sing so beautifully, show that they are confident and enjoying themselves.

BZ to all those involved.

Whilst many enjoyed a well-earned rest over Christmas, Broadway Academies top sportsmen were still out in force, claiming superb victories.

Kihone jumped a personal best in the high jump (1.68) and also ran a personal best (8.05) in the 60m, when he took part in the Midland Athletics Open Meeting. Having finished top of the British high jump rankings with 1.65 last year, his new leap will once again propel him straight to the top and is great preparation for the national championships in February.

National High Jump Coach Fuzz Ahmed watched the competition and praised Kihone, claiming he has serious skills and could go as high as 1.81 this year.

Not to be outdone, Broadway Raiders football team put in a superb performance, beating Bournville Utd 12-3 and returning to the top of Warwickshire League. Goals came from Abdoulie, who secured man of the match, Salman (3) and Yassir (2). Their incredible unbeaten run now continues and they will face Holly Lane next week, before a huge semi final clash with Redditch Utd the following week. The year 8 school team also have their semi final to look forward to against King Edwards, after wrapping up the league title in the last week before Christmas.
